I went to VIVA VIVA with a few friends last week and I must say - wot a night!!! Let me start with the plus points, food - fantastic, I didn't eat much as we were there for the music and the drinks but what bits we did eat were very tasty and prices not OTT. Once we had finished eating (with a couple of cheeky drinks) the soul/funk DJ came on then the night really started. The clientele was between 20 - 45 years old and everyone was friendly and having a great time whilst the soul classics were pumping out. The decor of this place is original, funky and confortable and we found the bar staff very friendly and it was easy to get a drink all night. I have seen some poor reviews on here but I we found this place to be so good - we are going back early Jan 09 with even more of us. If you have not been - try it, it really has a superb vibe.
The downside - it should go on till 0600am, we were enjoying the night so much we would have liked to have stayed rather than go onto the rather poor club we went to after. VIVA VIVA in Jan 09 - we'll be back

Viva Viva has just been taken over by the most amazine management. Vibrant culture vultures, who are passionate about music. Every night offers new music. Its a really creative atmosphere and a really exciting place. Im so glad its down the road from me.... a real discovery.
I read all the reviews about this place and couldn't believe it was the same place I have just been to for my birthday. I booked my birthday bash here and I have to say we had a fantastic time. Live music (Brazilan band) on the night, were great. The astomphere in Viva Viva is wnderful with a mixure of clientele. The place has been taken over by Andy and Steve (thanks guys) - who were very welcoming and made sure all was well with myself and guests. Only negative, the drinks are overpriced - west end prices in North London, but having said that, the food was good. All in all, a FAB night out. :o)
Service was bizarrely slow considering we were one of two tables there when we arrived - it took 10 minutes just to get some beers in. Food is ok, but very overpriced for what it is and the Tapas selection iswoefully limited. The artwork on the walls is appalling and when the live music appeared (30 mins late) it was so loud as to be deafening...
This place and it's arrogant owner/manager is vile. I had perhaps the worst night of the 21st century to date in here, due to poor management, rude bar staff, incompetent cooks and wailing karaoke singers. I urge local Crouch End/Hornsey residents to avoid it.The idea of it is so good (the area needs a nice relaxed live music venue) but the execution leaves everything to be desired.
